Biography

Laurie Giroux, M.E.S., EP

Ms. Giroux is a professional environmental consultant with 19 years of experience.  She is a certified Environmental Professional (EP), a designation approved by the Eco Canada Canadian Environmental Certification Approvals Board (CECAB) and one that requires adherence to a professional code of ethics.  Her area of specialization is environmental policy and regulation.

Ms. Giroux graduated in 1996 from Trent University with a joint Honours Bachelor’s degree in Environment and Resource Studies and Comparative International Development.  She then graduated from Dalhousie University’s School for Resource and Environmental Studies in 1999 with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies (M.E.S.).  She has worked for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, the Renfrew County Waste Management Board of Ontario, and as Senior Consultant with Marbek Resource Consultants in Ottawa for 13 years.  In 2012 she left her managerial position to open her own consulting business.

Ms. Giroux’s interdisciplinary background has allowed her to develop skills and abilities applicable to many environmental issue areas including waste diversion programs, sustainable communities, environmental management and pollution prevention.  Clients she has served include the federal government, provincial government, municipal governments, arms-length provincial agencies, non-profit institutions, membership-based organizations, inter-governmental organizations, and the private sector. She has been a project manager for over a decade, managing projects with multiple firms from project inception to completion.  She is well known for paying significant attention to meeting and exceeding client needs on each project, and for her high caliber quality of work.

As the owner of Giroux Environmental Consulting, Ms. Giroux is based in Ottawa, and has a wide network of professional consultants to partner with across the country as project needs arise.
